The installation Run Fast and Bite Hard – part of the solo show Fame d’aria, curated by Matteo Lucchetti at Lia Rumma Gallery in Naples – is a quote from the American philosopher Donna Haraway on human/dog interdependency derived from the domestication of the wolf. The work is a video installation where a peep show in the wall allows visitors to watch thermal night footage of a captive wolf pack. While entre chien et loup—a French expression for twilight from the image of being between “dog” and “wolf”—one fi nds oneself inside a cabin made of hunting camoufl age materials, where an audio track is played that creates the illusion of being in a forest. None of these noises was recorded in nature; they were instead produced in the studio by the fi lm Foley artist Marco Ciorba using everyday objects to re-create an aural mirage. Both parts of the work overlook an inaccessible room, a metaphor for the contemporary, constantly mediating relationship of the human species with the animal species.
