The #50 of the series Paradossi dell’Abbondanza (Paradoxes of Plenty) – part of the solo show Fame d’aria, curated by Matteo Lucchetti at Lia Rumma Gallery in Naples – is a featuring a multicellular multispecies universe which the artist has taken from various manuals (such as Anatomia degli animali domestici by A. C. Bruni and U. Zimmerl, Vallardi 1951) which contain anatomical studies, from the nineteenth century, of all the species of five animal kingdoms. This universe consists of tissues, organs, cells, reassembled according to original compositions that do not correspond to a capitalist vision of production through intensive herding, extraction techniques that generate pollution or unrestricted hunting. These new, unprecedented forms are the sum total of kinships that are put together from scratch, to quote Donna Haraway who, in her essay Making Kin. Fare parentele, non popolazioni (DeriveApprodi, 2022), Indicates a possible path where “composting rather than accumulation is key” and where death, which recurs frequently as the thread running through all her work, is viewed as joining “in the metabolic transformations between and among rocks and critters for living and dying well”.
