The three dioramas Paradossi dell’Abbondanza #62, #63, #64 (Paradoxes of Plenty #62, #63, #64) – part of the solo show Lotta per l’esistenza (Struggle for Existence) curated by Lorenzo Fusi at Arte Sella – focus on the devastation caused by Storm Vaia in the Alpine territories (2018). These works offer a reflection on destruction and regeneration, emphasising how the landscape is never neutral, but a living body traversed by different, often contrasting forces that react to every change by seeking new balances.
Paradoxes of Plenty #64 is dedicated to Arte Sella—an emblematic and inspirational site for this body of work, where art and nature are closely intertwined. Many of the works created for Arte Sella over the years, particularly those made with organic materials, were destroyed by the 2018 storm. In this diorama, some of those lost installations reemerge in what might be described as a “landscape of memory.” The work not only commemorates the lost pieces but also invites us to reconsider the relationship between art and time, and the role of artistic creation in times of crisis and accelerated transformation.
